UI Terminology Glossary

This memo defines the user-facing vocabulary used across Chat, Navigator, Canvas, and Inspector.

• selected
  • An item the user has chosen in navigation or a list.
• viewed
  • The artifact currently shown as the primary focus in Canvas.
• active in chat
  • The artifact Chat is currently using as its default reference.
• editing
  • A state where the user is adjusting changes to a figure.
• regenerating
  • A state where a figure is being rebuilt to apply saved changes.
• pending user input
  • A state that cannot proceed until the researcher confirms or adds more input.
• failed
  • A state where the previous step did not complete successfully.

Notes

• Do not treat selected and active in chat as the same meaning.
• viewed refers to the primary artifact currently shown in Canvas.
• active in chat refers to the artifact Chat uses as its default reference.
• regenerating refers to update progress for an existing figure, not initial generation.
